About Yannick Beaufils
Yannick Beaufils was born on 10-11-78 in Lyon France. He started to play pool at the age of 13 in a bar next to his grandparents home, where he lived. Yannick grew up playing 8-Ball because that was the game of choice in France. After two years of playing, he went to his first World Junior Championship in Manchester. For a young Yannick it was a great experience in which he learned a lot about his skill and the sport itself. He knew that in order to be at the top of the rankings he would have to practice hard, and in 1996 it paid off. Yannick reached the National Squad at the age of 17 and became a French champion. This win was followed by another win in 2001. In 2002 he was the runner up in the World 8-Ball Tournament, and in 2004 was the first French player to turn professional in England and gained the French number 1 ranking. One year ago he was thinking about working in a pool club in order to keep active in the French circuit, but was losing motivation do to the lack of evolution in the sport. With his dedication about the sport still in his blood he is excited about the new direction the sport has taken.
