About Marcus Chamat
Another popular competitor, the likeable Chamat made it through to the last 16 of this summer’s World Pool Championship where he went down 11 – 4 to eventual winner Wu Chia-ching. That finish gains him an automatic slot for next year’s event and the diminutive Swede still has ambitions of winning the sport’s biggest prize following a bronze medal in 2004. At home, Chamat is a regular high finisher on the Euro Tour and has maintained a high ranking over the past couple of years. Earlier this year Chamat took the prestigious APN Invitational title in England with a £3,000 top prize against a strong international field. Chamat comes into his own though at the annual Europe v USA Mosconi Cup where he thrives in the high intensity atmosphere and plays to the crowd. A lynchpin of the winning side in 2003, he has made five appearances in total and will sure to be in the running when the European side for Las Vegas is announced in the autumn.
