About Michael Hill
Mick Hill at the age of 24 was crowned English 8Ball Pool World Champion. He is now one of the most renowned players of the game, and is now ready to take America by storm; Mick lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. He was originally born and raised in Dudley, Wolverhampton, but in 2001 he met his girlfriend Emma, and they decided to buy a house together in her hometown of Batley, Leeds. As Mick’s family are still based in Dudley, he often travels back to his hometown to see his family and old friends. Mick has been a big sports fan all his life, though pool was his main hobby as a young boy. He started playing pool at the age of 5 when his father acquired a table at home. Mixing pool with other hobbies he grew up in a competitive household. Both his father Eddie and 2 uncles were keen pool and snooker players, and by the time Mick was 11 his father noticed his talent and suggested he should join the local league team at a public house where his father socialised. As time went by Mick continued with his studies at High Arcal Grammar School, but found that more increasingly pool was beginning to takeover. Growing up wasn’t at all easy, watching his friends going out socialising, but Mick knew the practise had to be done if he was to achieve what his potential had to offer. By the age of 13 Mick’s ever increasing love for the game grew and grew to the extent he was skipping school and going to a friend’s house where he had a snooker table at home. When the school applied pressure, his father and Mick decided pool was his future and he left at the age of 15.
