About Gerda Hofstatter
Gerda Hofstatter was born in Austria in 1971, and was first introduced to pool by her sister Ingrid on a six-foot, coin-operated table. Throughout her childhood she practiced and practiced in a local club. In 1987, Gerda won her first Austrian Championship. Two years later she won the European Championship, making it the first time Austria ever won a Gold Medal in the European Championship. Gerda, after finishing school and moving to Sweden, moved to the United States in 1993 to stay with the respected pro player Ewa Laurance. Gerda entered and won her first tournament in the United States, The San Francisco Classic. Simultaneously, Gerda continued to compete in the WPBA and the European Tour. After encountering many conflicting dates playing on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, Gerda dedicated herself playing mostly in the United States. She now lives in New York and has recently graduated New York University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Leadership and Management.
