About Samuel Jones
“Jumping Sammy” Jones started playing pool at the age of 8 on a table that he built. The construction of the table was a square wooden table that consisted of wood rails with hard rubber attached and Raggedy Ann socks for pockets. The balls were made of marbles and his pool cue was made from a cane that was won by his father at a county fair. Sammy grew up playing in a local pool hall in Springfield K.Y., and by the age of 13 he was the best player in the town. After high school he attended Western KY University and learned how to play from a pro who is well known today, Johnny Edwards. Sammy racked balls for a year before he realized that he could actually compete and win money, and that’s what he has done for the past 20 years. During his career, he has developed the jump cue, jump shaft, and jump break cue. He was won several tournaments over those years, but the most memorable for him have been the N.Y. 9-Ball Championships, and the N.J. Straight Pool Championship. He has stayed ranked in the top 32 for most of his career. He would like to be remembered for his uncanny ability to jump balls at close range, thus earning the nickname “Jumping Sammy!” In his free time Sammy, likes to spend time with his wife LoreeJon Jones, and their three wonderful children; Jonathan, Jessica, and Matthew. His family are all excited to be a part of the IPT, and would like to extend a big thanks to Kevin!
