About Edwin Kelly
Edwin Kelly was born on May 17, 1938, in Waterbury, Connecticut. He has earned the name “Champagne Eddie,” due to his handsome, stylish look, and his confident manner. As a boy, he watched the locals in his town play for hours and hours then began practicing his game religiously. He asked many questions, and wasn’t ashamed to ask an opponent how to execute impressive shots. Eddie was shown on national television taking second place in the 1963 Johnson City World All-Around, and decided to take his game on the road for extra money. In 1965, he was the Champion of the World 9-Ball Tournament, and a year later took the 9-Ball and One Pocket Titles in the Johnson City World All-Around Championships. Champagne Eddie continued to impress the crowds over the years and conquered many more titles, allowing him to hang with such celebrities as Fred Astaire. He became a Hall of Fame inductee in 2003, and continues to use his suave style and unprecedented talent to squash opponents.
