About Mary Kenniston
Mary was born in Bay Shore, New York and grew up on Long Island, where she was active in sports. After high school, she was one of the first women in the United States to receive a basketball scholarship to college. As one of the early members of the Women’s Professional Billiards Association, Mary has been a major force in women’s pool for almost 30 years. She served on WPBA board for many years and was consistently ranked in the top four women players in the world for most of her playing career. Mary has earned more than 40 top three tournament finishes, including more than twenty major titles as well as World and National Championships. In 1996, she was honored to receive the WPBA Sportsperson of the Year Award. Mary was sidelined in 1995 by brain surgery which resulted in complete paralysis on her right side. She has since recovered and is playing as well as, if not better, than ever.
