About Ivica Putnik
Ivica Putnik was born on November 18, 1972 in Split, Croatia. He first took up pool at the age of sixteen, playing with his friends in a small pool hall, and stuck since then with the billiard tables to become a professional. His professional pool career began with the “Croatia Cup” tournaments in which he qualified for the National championship. At his first National championship he made his debut and reached the semi-finals. Two years later as a gifted 25-year old he made his appearance on international level. He played his first international tournament in the Italian Salsa Maggiore at the Euro-Tour tournament. In the same year he played for the national team at the European Championship in Stavanger, Norway. From that moment on, the rise of the best Croatian pool player started. He captured his first national title in 1999 at the Croatian Championship in Trogir. Since then his many wins included twelve National Champion Titles and three Ultimate Winner titles of the “Croatia Tour”. At the same time, being present in the international scene, Putnik took 3 years in a row, :the 9th place at the European Championships, 5 th place on Euro-Tour tournament in Copenhagen, and by this gained himself invitations for the World Championship where he competed amongst 128 world's best pool players. In 2003 at the European Championship in Poland (Bialystok), he was the member of the silver medal winning team. He is also a permanent member of the Croatian Pool Team. Ivica Putnik holds the official Croatian record in 6 racks in a row. In addition to that he set the record in the Croatia Cup tournaments won in a where he won 5 of 7 tournaments in a row. In 2002, he became first and only Croatian pool player who managed to unite all national titles. He won the individual titles in “straight pool”, 8-Ball and 9-Ball. He was the ultimate winner of the “Croatia Tour”, and with his former club “Split” he won the team title.
