About Jim Raney
Dr. Jim Raney the “Gentleman Jim” has been playing pool for 40 years. He has played and practiced with some of the biggest names in pool including Danny Medina, Buddy Hall, Minnesota Fats, the “Miz”, Mike Sigel, Vivian Villarreal, and Jeanette Lee. He began playing pool with his father, who taught him a lot about the game and the world of pool. He has been enjoying it ever since. Raney and his wife established a local pool league in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and began negotiating for the BCS to allow amateur players into the BCS League. Since they established their new league, the BCS, APA and several other leagues have opened up nationwide, allowing pool players of all statures to play at national events. Many leagues have expanded their regulations to allow amateurs and professionals to play together due to Jim’s determination and passion to change. Raney has remained both behind the scenes and attended and played in many competitions in order to strive for change in the American pool leagues. He is excited about playing with the IPT, and sees the IPT as a great outlet to help pool be seen and experienced by millions of new fans.
