About Laurent Travers

Laurent Travers was born in France in a little town not far from the Normandy beaches. Originally he was playing tennis and soccer at a high level when he was sixteen. After a bike accident that left him in a cast for a while, he started to play English eight ball pool which was imported from the UK to France at the time. After two years of National Championship in France, He began playing for the French Team at the European and World Eight Ball Pool Federation. In 1999, he finished as the European Champion with the French Team and finished 5th in the singles. After this European title, he moved to the United States where Travers sold car trailers for Delavan Industries, in Buffalo New York. He took advantage of his new American life to switch from English eight ball pool to American eight ball pool when he arrived in The United States. The result of this change appeared during the Canadian Club Whisky national tournament in 2002 where 8000 amateur players were playing in the USA. Travers ended up finishing as one of the top 2 players of New York State qualifiers, and in the top 32 in the finals in Las Vegas. After the New York state qualifiers, an exhibition match had been organized between Jeannette Lee « the Black Widow » and Travers, who went on to win 3-0 for a $1,000 prize. Travers revealed he had a very good time with Jeannette who encouraged his skills at the time, and pushed him to go on professional. After a few years Travers traveled back to his home country of France and remained the French Captain and shortly after elected the best player of the EEPF European Eight Ball Pool Championship in 2005. Today he is a father of a 3 month old baby girl, and is confident that the IPT will be able to revolutionize pool players’ lives all over the world.
